Hi, I’m Nick
I’m the owner and photographer behind nickVphotography, and I’ve been photographing school children for more than 30 years.
During that time, I’ve had the privilege of photographing children in all kinds of schools and early learning environments across Australia. For the past 25 years, Newcastle has been home, and I’ve proudly lived and worked from Cardiff throughout that time.
Today, my focus is preschool photography.
Over three decades, I’ve continually developed and refined my approach to photographing children. But despite all those years behind the camera, I still learn something new every time I photograph a group of children. Every child is different, and that is one of the things I love most about what I do.
My aim is simple: to create beautiful, natural portraits that capture each child’s personality.
Photographing preschool children requires patience, flexibility and a good sense of humour. I take the time to make children feel comfortable and relaxed, rather than simply asking them to “say cheese”. I want them to enjoy the experience—and for their personality to come through in the photograph.
I’m a sole operator, which means I personally take the photographs, edit and process every image and oversee the production of every order. Your photographs aren’t passed through a chain of different people or outsourced processes. I have complete control over every step, from the camera to the finished print.
I take enormous pride in the quality of my work and in the service I provide to each preschool. I also understand that preschool photography needs to fit around busy educators, young children and the normal routines of the centre.
Your photographs are delivered within 5–10 days of the final photography day—usually within 5 days.
After more than 30 years, I still genuinely love what I do. For me, photographing children isn't just about taking a picture. It’s about capturing a little piece of who they are at this stage of their lives.

I personally photograph, edit, process, print and pack every order. Nothing is outsourced. By managing the entire process myself, I maintain control over quality and can deliver your photos in days rather than weeks or months.

Your photographs and associated data remain securely managed through my own office and servers. Nothing is outsourced, giving me direct control over how your images and information are handled and secured. Our cloud for digital photo delivery is all run, secured, managed and store on my local drives/server. Nothing leaves our office and is secured by me at all times with military grade software.
